5 Element Mind & Body Healing
A fusion of ancient Tibetan practices and Western wisdom traditions that go back thousands of years, five element healing is a powerful healing systems without parallel, and yet compliments every other kind of medicine or self-care. Through color, sound, light and creative thought, we can access these basis building blocks of experience and use them to heal, strengthen, transform. Energy healing is one of the oldest forms of medicine, existing in various forms in ancient China, India, Greece, and native peoples across the globe.
Dr. Asa has 40 years of experience as an energy healer, having developed sensitivity to the messages embedded within human energy fields. These messages give vital clues to the physical, emotional and spiritual causes of illness and suffering. Through long training in Tibetan meditation and other disciplines, he has developed an elegant and powerful energy healing method, a fusion of ancient practices, modern medical and contemporary psychology. This involves the five core energies that underly our body, our mind, and the very universe we inhabit.
Our health is an expression of the integrity and balance of the 5 primary forces from which it is built, and illness is an expression of distortion or disharmony in these 5 core elements. Ancient techniques of of working with the elements are the most effective and direct way of curing illness, healing and and prevention.
Our Pentad Mind has five aspects, from which all our good qualities, character and power flow. And from which all deficiency, suffering, and negativity arise. Understanding and working with our psychological elements is the fastest road to bringing the mind back to its original purity and creative brilliance.
The form of our body is a very sophisticated hierarchy of structures within structures, organized and coordinated with extraordinary precision. The matrix of connective tissue provides the framework of every living cell. But when Earth becomes deficient, this marvelous city of the body begins to decay and collapse. Conversely, when Earth is excessive, there is rigidity, restriction and contraction.
Earth Element is the inner Ruler, the force within our psyche that organizes, logically governs, and structures our psychological world. It provides a stable and practical base, and a sense of nourishing and enrichment. We are where we truly belong, with generosity towards others. But if disconnected, we feel impoverished and unstable. And the dark side of Ruler is miserliness, oppression, and self-centeredness.
Water Element is the “universal solvent,” the place where our chemistry mixes and mingles, and which flows to nourish every nook and cranny of the body. The flexibility and changeableness of this elemental power is key to youthful and vibrant health. However, when its force is diminished, our entire biochemistry and metabolism is dampened. And when it is excessive or distorted, we begin to retain toxins, fluids and fat, becoming prone to inflammation and infection.
Water Element allows our deep and intimate connection with things, phenomena and people. In its fullness it brings compassion, idealism, and an easygoing mental flow. Water Element is intuitive and sensitive, but it, like its aqueous counterpart, has a tremendous nurturing and life-giving strength. If we lose connection to Water, there is a sense of isolation, doubt, and loss. The Shadow of Water creates a manipulative, possessive or co-dependent state, in a misguided effort to emulate real power.
Biological Fire Element burns brightly at the core of every cell, where we create the warmth that is the basis of our whole biochemical factory. Digestive fire makes it possible to break down other life forms and assimilate them, as well deconstruct old tissues and purify the toxins, viruses and other forces that destabilize life. Moreover, Fire is the directivity, the focus and drive built into every cell, organ, insect and human being.
The Fire of mind is our Warriorship, the heroic drive and motivation that pushes us to succeed and overcome all obstacles. In its five forms, the fiery warrior is the ambition of mind, whether it is the push to love more, have more, know more, accomplish more, or be more. In its pure form, this fearlessness and strength carries a sense of responsibility. In Loss, we feel powerless and weak. And in Shadow it can turn brutal and ruthless.
The circulation of blood, pumping of the heart, expansion of our lungs, the motility of the gut: All that moves is under the domain of Air. More than this, it enables the transfer of messages and signals from brain to cell, and back again. The creation of new tissues and organs is under its domain, as is the resourcefulness to adapt to the constant shifts, alterations and threats from a tumultuous, ever-changing world.
Thought, emotion, and sensation are part of the intricate play of mind, but the creative movement of all these parts is Air Element: mixing, inventing, discovering, adapting. Otherwise, ponderous mechanics holds sway and the genius of humanity can never be realized; Yet an excess means instability, disassociation, and lack of grounding.
The body has no “empty spaces,” but one of the ways that Space expresses itself is in the cavities of body, such as the chest cavity, abdomen, skull, long bones and so on. This is where energy is condensed and stored; The more active the organ (heart for example), the greater the number of cavities that must enclose it. Space Element is the biological wisdom that oversees and coordinates all activity, with its complex sequences and hierarchy of needs.
At the center of the circular mandala of the 5 Elements, Space is like the “chairman of the board.” As the arbitrator, it is the male or female sage, the Guru, that coordinates the multiple, often contradictory impulses of thoughts, emotions and drives arising from the rest of our psychological Elements. Providing both judgment and conscience, Space Element is also the hidden secret of memory and the continuity of our identity.
